Rob joined McDermott & Clawson in June 2001, and in 2002 he was asked to open an office for our firm in the San Fernando Valley, where he serves as managing attorney. Rob is a Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. He has spent the past 14 years defending employers and workers’ compensation carriers. In addition to his own cases and management of the Encino office, Rob is a member of the firm's Education Committee, and gives seminars and presentations on the firm's behalf.
Background
Rob is the product of a Southern California Jesuit education, having graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University (Bachelor of Arts in Communications – Recording Arts, cum laude, 1989) and Loyola Law School (Juris Doctor, 1992).
Prior to joining McDermott & Clawson, Rob worked from 1993 to 1998 at Ibold & Anderson in Covina, California and from 1998 to 2001 at Douglas, Garey, Hammill & Robinson.
In addition to lecturing on a number of workers’ compensation issues for attorneys, employers, and insurance claims professionals, Rob has successfully litigated cases at over 16 Workers' Compensation Appeals Board locations, from San Diego to Grover Beach. He has also successfully argued cases on behalf of workers’ compensation insurance companies before the Second (Los Angeles) and Fourth (San Bernardino) Appellate Districts.
Professional Affiliations, Community Involvement
Rob is an active member of the California State Bar and its Workers' Compensation Section. He is a former member of the Intellectual Property Association.
Rob lives in Thousand Oaks, where he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and participating in a number of activities including sailing, hiking, and singing in a choir. He is also active in community service as a member of the Santa Barbara Regional Pastoral Council and as president of the Pastoral Council – St. Jude Catholic Church, member of the Stewardship Committee.
